The first public St. Patrick's Day celebrations in America were in Boston last 1737. And the very first St. Patrick's Day Parade in the USA was held on New York City's lower Broadway in 1766 by a band of homesick Irish ex-patriots. This parade reveled in the freedom to speak Irish, sing Irish songs, and play the pipes to Irish tunes.
